Occasionally, I see complaints about the file organization of kwin,
which is fair enough.
This change makes the source code more relocatable by removing relative
paths from includes.
CMAKE_CURRENT_SOURCE_DIR was added to the interface include directories
of kwin library. This means that as long as you link against kwin target,
the real location of the source code of the library doesn't matter.
With autotests, things are not as convenient as with kwin target. Some
tests use cpp files from kwin core. If we move all source code in a src/
directory, they will need to be adjusted, but mostly only in build
scripts.
The main advantage of SPDX license identifiers over the traditional
license headers is that it's more difficult to overlook inappropriate
licenses for kwin, for example GPL 3. We also don't have to copy a
lot of boilerplate text.
In order to create this change, I ran licensedigger -r -c from the
toplevel source directory.
Summary:
And finally nothing inside libkwineffects, libkwinglutils,
libkwinxrenderutils and kwineffect and kwin core uses KWin::display.
We are finally XLib free!
This change drops KWin::display and removes the include to QX11Info from
kwinglobals.h. And the libraries no longer need to link X11Extras. Due
to that removal a few seeming unrelated changes are required to add the
include where needed and linkage to X11Extras.
The biggest change is to x11 platform plugin which still needs the
display and caches it in the Platform and passes it to various places in
a way that the code doesn't need to be adjusted.

The X11 specific tests need to run on QT_QPA_PLATFORM xcb otherwise
they will crash. To enforce this without having to replace QTEST_MAIN
a Q_CONSTRUCTOR_FUNCTION is used to invoke a function which does nothing
except setting the env variable.
KWin::connection() uses the property to resolve the value instead of
using QX11Info. In practice this doesn't change anything at the moment,
but allows kwin_wayland to provide an xcb connection without depending
on QX11Info.
As we cannot make xcb_connection_t* available as a metatype, the
property's type is set to void*.
KWin::rootWindow() uses the property to resolve the value instead of

Let's use the available API instead of duplicating code.
Nice side effect: client_machine.cpp doesn't include utils.h any more
which simplifies the unit test.

Used by Cursor to properly emit the mouseChanged signal which for
historic reasons includes the keyboard modifiers.
Again some fiddling around with the autotests and kcmrules needed to
make it compile. This needs improvement!
New inheriting class which uses the InputRedirection to track the cursor
position. It doesn't support warping of cursor.
This introduces a slight dependency loop in the startup. Cursor needs to
be created after the WaylandBackend to ensure that the operation mode is
set correctly. But the WaylandBackend itself is accessing Cursor. It
should be safe as inside the WaylandBackend it's only accessed after
callbacks.
Completing the task of replacing all NULL to nullptr in all the files in tests folder
(also substituting some "0" used as nullptr with nullptr)

The idea behind this class is to relieve the developer from having to
call xcb_destroy_window once it is no longer needed. That is having a
RAII approach to windows.
In addition the class provides some simple method wrappers for the most
common use cases inside KWin:
* map
* unmap
* setGeometry - basically a moveResizeWindow
* ...
Follow-up to cbb7f57; the code built on Linux despite the lack of required
includes most likely because netdb.h ends up indirectly including
sys/types.h and sys/socket.h.
It's not really needed, the required functionality can be achieved in a
more implicit way. The reply pointer is managed by the Wrapper class as
long as the method take() is not invoked. This method follows the
semantics of QScopedPointer::take(). That is the pointer is set to null
and the responsibility to free the pointer is passed to the callee.
By this change we do not have the overhead of creating a QSharedPointer.
In addition the Wrapper provides a copy ctor and assignment operator also
using the semantics of take().
Most windows use the hostname in WM_CLIENT_MACHINE, but there are windows
using the FQDN (for example libreoffice). So instead of "foo" it is
"foo.local.net" or similar. The logic so far has been unable to properly
determine whether windows with FQDN are on the local system.
In order to solve this problem the handling is split out into an own
class which stores the information of hostname and whether it is a local
machine. This is to not query multiple times. To determine whether the
Client is on the local system getaddrinfo is used for the own hostname
and the FQDN provided in WM_CLIENT_MACHINE. If one of the queried
names matches, we know that it is on the local machine. The old logic to
compare the hostname is still used and getaddrinfo is only a fallback in
case hostname does not match.
The problem with getaddrinfo is, that it accesses the network and by that
could block. To circumvent this problem the calls are moved into threads
by using QtConcurrent::run.
Obviously this brings disadvantages. When trying to resolve whether a
Client is on the local machine and a FQDN is used, the information is
initially wrong. The new ClientMachine class emits a signal when the
information that the system is local becomes available, but for some
things this is just too late:
* window rules are already gathered
* Session Management has already taken place
In both cases this is an acceptable loss. For window rules it just needs
a proper matching of the machine in case of localhost (remote hosts are
not affected). And the case of session management is very academic as it
is unlikely that a restoring session contains remote windows.
